April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball star in the US is part of a select group of women who have had medals won in many Olympics. Ross will compete in Tokyo for her third Olympic medal with Alix Klineman, who is a first time Olympian. Ross would like to do more than her first Olympic medal. In fact, at 39, it could be her last chance to accomplish this. However, she remains optimistic that the most important medals are at hand. If we can perform to our highest or even if we play really well, I believe we'll win the gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. In addition, I'm planning have a chance to try my hand at lucky. Ross was born on August 22, 1982, on the outskirts of Costa Mesa California. She lived there with her family. Ross competed in many sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. In her time as a college athlete, she played indoor volleyball and track. It was clear that she was superior player in her other sport. As a high school volleyball season According to her university information, she played as a middle blocker, outside settingter, and hitter. She was named one of the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999 due to her accomplishments. In 2000, she won an Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Even though Ross and Klineman are in the spotlight in 2017 and beyond, Klineman had already been a major athlete on the beach even before the pair formed. Her name has appeared in major tournaments twice with different partners. One of them has become a legend in the volleyball world. From 2007 to 2013 she teamed alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently worked as Klineman's coach. Along with Kessy Ross, she won a World Title in 2009, while racing in the international circuit. They were awarded a silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. They were eliminated for the gold medal by the legendary duo of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate as Maytreanor resigned. They were awarded the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a college player with the Trojans of USC prior to making the jump to professional. The Trojans were in high school, and even years prior to getting on the beach to become a professional. In fact, her time in the Trojans' ranks was one to remember. It was her time to be an All-American and Pac-10 freshman of the year in the year 2000. She also helped her Trojans get to the Final Four. Her sophomore season was the year she went through a heartbreaking personal loss but still successful in being named an All-American. The two seasons she spent as a member of the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them succeed in winning consecutive championships. Individually, she cemented her place as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award went to the top female college player in the country. Ross was an international relations student at USC. However, Ross mother Margie did not get to see her daughter reach the highest levels of beach volleyball superstardom. Ross lost her mother due to breast cancer back in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Her mother is still very dearly. Also, Margie remains a source of encouragement for her at the beach as well as in everyday her everyday life.
