Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She founded The Huffington Post and the director of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Arianna Huffington has worked as an actor, journalist, philanthropist and author for over ten years. She also is the proprietor of The Huffington Post, an free-of-cost online news magazine. Originating from Greece she was able to move to England when she was 16 and was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. At 21 she became head of the famous debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student who was elected to this position. Then she became a syndicated conservative writer following her graduation. When The Huffington Post launched a couple of years following, she launched an online voice platform with a critique of current the political landscape. In part, her fame has helped attract a number of famous contributors. Arianna rose to fame when she made the decision to run as an independent candidate in the California recall election in order to succeed the Governor Davis. Alongside this, she led the Detroit Project for efficient vehicles that use less fuel. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as the most influential women in the media, achieving 12th position in the listing and the following year the Guardian named her to the top 100 of media lists. In the year 2011, AOL Inc. bought The Huffington Post and made her president of that media unit, which comprised of many existing AOL properties, including Engadget AOL music Style list and Patch Media. Elli was born to Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, and Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, who both are journalist and management consultants. She was extremely close to her father. However, it was the relationship she had with her mother which shaped her. At a young age, she displayed the leadership abilities that she is still known for. At the age of 16years old, she emigrated from America to the United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. While in college she was a member of the Cambridge Union's colleges debating societies, which she later became the first female and foreign president. She graduated in 1972 with an MA in Economics. After her graduation, she was an editor of the critic's column and a television host. Her appearance on Face the music with Bernard Levin was a notable one. She began to write books, taking his help in editing.
