Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946 located in Locust Ridge Tenn. She was raised with 12 other kids. Her vivid imagination enabled her to escape the savage realities of daily life. She was writing songs before she was able to read or write. As a young girl when she bought her first electric guitar and began singing on the Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. The same year, she released her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. Even though she was still in college, she already established herself locally. Her goal was to become more acknowledged. She moved to Nashville the day after graduating in 1964. Her first charting hits with Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. It was around this time that Porter Wagoner was looking for someone new to sing on the show he had syndicated to television. Parton was appointed in the year 1967 she signed with RCA Records by 1968, becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry. She left the show in 1974 as her solo releases such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene began charting the collaborations they had with each other. Parton recorded I Will Always Love You to Wagoner following their split. The song reached the top of the charts at. 1. for the first time in 1974.
